If a woman becomes pure from menstruation at the time of 'Asr or 'Isha', what does she pray?

Short answer

If she becomes pure at the time of 'Asr she prays Zuhr and 'Asr, and if she becomes pure at the time of 'Isha' she prays Maghrib and 'Isha', according to the fatwa reported from the Shaykh.

Evidence and explanation

The Shaykh mentioned the fatwa of a group of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, and likened her state to that of one with an excuse who combines two prayers.

Question

English translation (unreviewed): The questioner says: If a woman becomes pure from her menstruation in one of the five prayer times, what must she pray? — The Shaykh: Repeat. — The presenter: He says: If a woman becomes pure from her menstruation in one of the five prayer times, what must she pray? Does she make up the prayer that was immediately before her purity, for example if she becomes pure at the time of 'Asr, does she make up Zuhr, or if she becomes pure at the time of Maghrib does she make up 'Asr, and so on? Give us a ruling.

(excerpt from the question)

From the text of the answer

English translation (unreviewed): If she becomes pure in the time of a prayer, she joins it with what precedes it that can be combined with it: she prays both. If she becomes pure in the time of 'Asr she prays Zuhr and 'Asr; if she becomes pure in the time of 'Isha' she prays Maghrib and 'Isha'; and if she becomes pure after dawn has broken she prays Fajr only. This is what is obligatory on her, as a group of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, gave the ruling, because she is like one with an excuse — like the sick — who combines two prayers.
