Welcome to Islam

Guide for the new Muslim

This is a real beginning path: it makes you understand the two testimonies and their meaning and requirements, then purification and prayer, then the Qur'an and remembrance, then how to hold to the Sunnah and know the sources of knowledge.

The path of the new Muslim

Eight stations that begin with the two testimonies and do not leave you after pronouncing them

You can open each station alone, but it is better to walk in this order until you form a clear base.

01

The two testimonies

أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأشهد أن محمدًا رسول الله.I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

You learn the meaning of entering Islam and what you say and believe.
02

La ilaha illa Allah

Negating worship from what is other than Allah and affirming it for Allah alone, with knowledge, certainty, acceptance, submission, truthfulness, sincerity and love.

You understand the meaning of the phrase, its conditions and its requirements in supplication, prayer, fear and hope.
03

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah

Believing him in what he reported, obeying him in what he commanded, avoiding what he forbade, and that Allah is worshipped only by what He legislated.

You learn the meaning of following and why the Sunnah is the way of worship.
04

Purification and prayer

Begin with wudu', the description of the prayer, its times and what the prayer is not valid without.

This is the first daily act you need to master.
05

The foundations of faith and the obligations

The pillars of faith, fasting, zakat when due, and the lawful and unlawful you face.

You learn the obligation before the distant details.
06

The Qur'an and remembrance

A steady Qur'anic portion and authentic adhkar in the morning, evening and states of the day.

Your heart is connected to revelation and remembrance in a practical way.
07

The Sunnah and the understanding of the Salaf

Hold to the Qur'an and the Sunnah as the Companions and Successors understood them, and avoid entering disputes and sects before establishing the foundations.

You learn the rule of following and distinguishing the Sunnah from innovations.
08

Know the scholars and the sources of knowledge

Begin with scholars known for knowledge and the Sunnah: Ibn Baz, Ibn al-'Uthaymin, al-Albani, al-Fawzan, Salih al-Luhaydan, 'Abd al-Razzaq 'Afifi, Ahmad Shakir, Muhammad Khalil Harras and other people of knowledge.

Do not make anonymous clips and forwarded messages the source of your religion.

A rule that protects your beginning

Do not make your first days in Islam an arena for argument. Establish tawhid, prayer and the Qur'an, ask the known people of knowledge, and if a religious statement is presented to you, ask for its evidence and source before attributing it to Islam.
