The prostration of forgetfulness is a delicate chapter; so we present the general rule first, then direct to the detail when a particular case occurs.

Three general causes

AdditionAdding an act of the same kind as the prayer out of forgetfulness.
OmissionLeaving an obligation or something that needs to be made up.

Before the salam or after it?

The places of prostration differ according to the cause, and it is not right to reduce all cases to one rule. So the examples are detailed according to the type of addition, omission or doubt from the words of the people of knowledge.

Precaution

Do not build the ruling on assumption

Whoever has recurring whispers should not pay attention to them; as for genuine incidental doubt, it has its rulings. And the particular event is to be referred to a reliable scholarly body.
